What wood are dollhouse kits made from?
Most DIY kits use laser-cut plywood (often basswood or birch ply) or MDF. Plywood is lighter, holds fine detail and takes stain well; MDF is heavier and very flat but needs priming before paint and can swell if it gets wet or too much glue is used.
Is a wooden dolls house better than plastic?
For a house that lasts, yes: wooden dolls houses are more stable, can be repainted and repaired, and suit both display builds and play. Plastic houses are lighter and cheaper to make but scratch and fade more quickly.
Do wooden dollhouse kits need painting?
