Getting the most out of a fair

  • Take measurements. Note your room sizes and scale (1:12 or 1:24) so you can check furniture on the spot — our free scale rulers fit in a bag.
  • Bring cash. Many makers' stalls are small businesses and some don't take cards.
  • Go early for makers, late for bargains. One-off pieces sell first; some sellers discount on the final afternoon.
  • Ask about workshops. Most clubs run beginner sessions — the easiest way to learn techniques like wallpapering, lighting and weathering.
